Fire Incident Relief Operations:
Las Piñas and Parañaque

New Life Community Care Foundation Inc. (NLCOM) is ever more beholden to the expanding network of people and corporations who willingly partner with us in our mission to Respond, Reach Out, and Rebuild lives. Airspeed Philippines, a logistics company based in Parañaque, has been one of our faithful donors and last April 16, they donated a truckload of dry goods and dairy products worth Php 500,000. It came just in time when we had a good few evacuation sites housing recent fire victims that we were trying to help cope up and support in our own little ways.
During that week’s Saturday Feeding Operations, our tireless volunteers also packed the items with the thought of bringing a little extra to the temporary shelters that day, aside from the food cooked for them. The busy counting, loading, and rechecking of goods filled the lobby with excitement as soon as they started packing at around 6:00 AM. The group got even more elated upon realizing that the start-to-finish relief bag assembly they worked together for was able to produce 400 bags. That meant 400 displaced families situated in Barangays Pilar and Manuyo in Las Piñas, and San Dionisio, Parañaque were blessed with the bags filled with necessities such as detergents, alcohol, shampoo, bath soap, and more. Weekly after that, we continued to provide some more supplies to the Pilar shelter during the feeding operations until its last day on May 11th. With another fire that broke out in Barangay Sto. Niño, Parañaque City a few days after our sem-ender operation, some of the volunteers reconvened to do another relief bag packing session. A total of 322 bags were produced and distributed on May 31st.
It’s only something God can do, through the help of Airspeed Philippines, that we were able to love on these people in need. We witnessed the thrill the detergent bars and powders gave to the mothers with them saying “makakapaglaba na rin kami ng todo,” (we can now use detergent and wash clothes unsparingly). Imagine also the ease it gave the moms who got packs of diapers for their little ones, as well as the simple joy the snacks and fresh milk granted the children. It is through Airspeed’s generous gift, which we greatly appreciate, that NLCOM was able to yet again demonstrate our relentless support and genuine care to these devastated families. Handing out the relief bags on top of serving hot meals went beyond just adding to their supply to extending God’s extravagant love and hope to them.
