Ready for Bataan:
Typhoon Enteng Relief Operations

Severe Tropical Storm Enteng, fueled by the Habagat, hit multiple areas in the Philippines in late August, leaving destruction in its wake. With communities still recovering from past disasters, this was yet another test of the Filipino resilience.

In partnership with New Life Balanga, NLCOM extended relief efforts to the severely flooded families in Townsite, Cabcaben, Mariveles, Bataan on September 13. Despite the area’s frequent flooding due to inadequate infrastructure, Tropical Storm Enteng brought one of the worst floods since Super Typhoon Josie in 2018.

We distributed 100 relief bags, pre-loved clothes, shoes, and toys to affected families temporarily staying at the local elementary school.

Nanay Aida, a longtime resident, described how they routinely clear mud and debris after floods. However, the damage from Enteng was unprecedented, forcing families like Jovy’s to evacuate as some homes were submerged under three feet of water. Many families only returned to their homes after a week.

During our visit, Nanay Flor expressed her gratitude for the relief efforts. “Salamat po sa tulong ninyo. Maraming salamat na andito kayo para maipag dasal din ang apo ko,” (“Thank you for your help. Thank you very much for being here so you can also pray for my granddaughter.”), she uttered as her the latter was suffering from a chronic condition. Her heartfelt thanks underscored the deeper impact of our mission—beyond providing essentials, we share the hope and love of Jesus Christ.

By partnering with us, you can help reach more communities like Barangay Cabcaben, where we bring not just relief, but also a reminder of hope and resilience.
